What you'll learn


This qualification reflects the role of workers who have lived experience of mental illness as either a consumer or carer and who work in mental health services in roles that support consumer peers or carer peers. Workers are employed in the mental health sector in government, public, private or community managed services.


To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 80 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The theory and practice of core counselling methods.

There are a total of 15 units.

Once you are enrolled in this course, you will receive access to the first Topic, which contains the first set of units for the course. When you have successfully completed those units, you'll be given access to the next Topic. The Academy of Mental Health and Counselling may make changes to the course from time to time to reflect changes in the industry.
